Enrichment
At Westside we offer an enrichment programme which includes activities that help students develop skills and strengths beyond the classroom, such as volunteering, getting involved in community sports, arts, or music events, drama, outdoor experiences, and cooking, to list a few. We recognise that cultural or social enrichment benefits students mentally, socially and physically, and can help create well-rounded students, helping to develop the whole child, and enabling them to grow and thrive. Through our enrichment programme we make school feel more like a place for play and exploration, a space that of promotes students’ mental well-being.
As well as helping students to learn new skills, our enrichment offer builds on students’ existing interests. That means marrying up enrichment opportunities with education and career aspirations. Students benefit from gaining confidence, building social skills and becoming more motivated by having the chance to pursue their own interests, which results in personal growth.
We recognise that it is important to support our curriculum with well-thought-out, bespoke enrichment opportunities, and so work with local partners to provide our students with experiences that have transformative potential. Whenever a student steps beyond their comfort zone and tries something new they are sewing the seeds of resilience and accomplishment. That is transformational.
